Alex Yost is a community organizer, mother, chef, and entrepreneur. After a decade of cooking in kitchens from San Francisco to Portland, she moved to Washougal in 2012 to open her first business in partnership with her husband.
As a businesswoman with a vision for the future, Alex is passionate about cultivating an economically diverse downtown core that supports small businesses and encourages sustainable growth in tandem with future waterfront development. She was appointed to the City Council in June 2018 and elected in November 2019 for a four year term.
As an active citizen Alex has kept her finger on the pulse of the community by attending City Council and Port meetings, teaming up with the Friends of the Washougal Community Library on fundraising events, hosting blood drives with Bloodworks NW. She also serves on many volunteer committees including:

Alex is dedicated to expanding community engagement and bringing citizen-lead initiatives to the table. She values youth empowerment, working to raise awareness of local issues by collaborating with students to increase voter registration and turnout.
She is committed to promoting transparency in local government by emphasizing frequent communication and opportunities for public involvement. Alex has always been drawn to public service and never hesitates to speak up and ask questions, seeking ways to connect people at every turn. She takes great joy in being part of the process and hopes to inspire others to join her.
