City of Washougal Calls for Local Vendors to Join New Community Market Pilot Program

City of Washougal Latest News Posted on June 02, 2025

The City of Washougal is excited to announce a new pilot initiative: a summer Community Market series designed to celebrate local talent, support small businesses, and bring energy to the heart of downtown. The city is now accepting vendor applications for the inaugural season of this limited-run market, set to debut on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Reflection Plaza.

This pilot market will run weekly on Fridays from 2 to 6 p.m. throughout the summer, offering a platform for small businesses, artisans, bakers, and food vendors to showcase their work and engage with the community.

“This is more than just a market,” said Rose Jewell, Community Engagement Manager for the City of Washougal. “It’s a collaborative initiative designed to spark economic activity, explore long-term possibilities, and help shape the future of a vibrant town center.”

Call for Vendors

The City is seeking 15 to 20 diverse local vendors to participate. Application and vendor space fees will not be collected during the 2025 Pilot Program. Desired vendor categories include:

  • Agricultural products (produce, flowers, dairy, eggs, meats, wild-gathered foods)
  • Hot/Fresh Food prepared onsite
  • Prepared Food (e.g., jams, baked goods, sauces)
  • Artisan Goods (e.g., handmade crafts, artwork, jewelry, furniture)

Selected vendors will play a vital role in shaping future market plans through participation and feedback.

The application deadline is June 20, 2025. All applications are welcome with priority given to Washougal/East County vendors. Vendors will be selected based on commitment, diversity of offerings, and locally sourced products. Final selections will be made by June 25, with notifications and additional information sent the following week. To apply, visit https://cityofwashougal.us/CommunityMarket.

About the Community Market Pilot Program

The Washougal Community Market supports one of the City’s strategic goals: fostering a vibrant town center. This pilot allows the City to evaluate interest, gather community feedback, and determine the feasibility of establishing a permanent, recurring market.

The initiative was inspired by growing community interest—including from councilmembers, local farmers, and artisans—and guided in part by insights from Jordan Bolt, who previously directed a Washougal market and now leads Vancouver’s Market.

“This is a unique opportunity for residents and business owners alike to help build something lasting,” Jewell added. “We’re excited to see what our community has to offer.”
