Washougal Takes Action to Safeguard Jemtegaard Pedestrian Path Amid Vandalism Concerns

City of Washougal Latest News Posted on June 06, 2024

The City of Washougal is currently working on repairing a segment of the Jemtegaard Pedestrian Path that connects Columbia River Gorge Elementary/Jemtegaard Middle School to SE Sunset View Rd. To ensure public safety, temporary safety fencing and caution signage have been installed along the most concerning area of the trail.

Regrettably, over the past few months, instances of vandalism have occurred, resulting in the destruction of fencing, signage, and even parts of the infrastructure being thrown into the creek. Such actions pose serious risks to the safety of trail users, including students and community members.

We urge all trail users and families with students who frequent this path to recognize that tampering with safety measures is jeopardizes the safety of everyone who relies on this route.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation and conveying this important message to your families.
