The City of Washougal is introducing a new summer tradition with its first-ever 4th of July kids parade at Hathaway Park, taking place from 10 a.m. to noon on Independence Day. The free, non-motorized event invites kids of all ages to participate—on foot, bikes, or scooters—in a relaxed, family-friendly celebration.
Ahead of the parade, families can gather to decorate bikes and scooters, enjoy games, win prizes, and share treats. All are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue to help build a festive community atmosphere.
“This is a chance for us to celebrate together in a way that feels true to Washougal—welcoming, simple, and full of local spirit,” said Rose Jewell, Community Engagement Manager. “We hope this event grows into something families look forward to every year.”
The parade aligns with Washougal’s Strategic Plan priority to redefine community identity, creating events that build pride and strengthen the city’s visibility as a vibrant, family-oriented place to live and visit.
