Sister City Program
In June 2023, The City of Washougal formally solidified its partnership with Zielonki, Poland, through the Sister Cities program, fostering avenues for cultural exchange, economic growth, and mutual understanding between the two communities.
On April 26, 2023, a delegation from Poland toured the Camas-Washougal area, gaining valuable insights into the local economy, culture, history, and infrastructure. Subsequently, in June 2023, a delegation from Washougal, comprising Mayor David Stuebe, Councilor David Fritz, and City Manager David Scott, finalized the sister cities agreement. In October 2023, a delegation from Poland revisited Washougal, with one of the highlights being a trip to Olympia to gain insights into the workings of Washington State's government.
The City of Washougal and Zielonki exchanges delegations and collaborates on cultural, educational, and business initiatives. These initiatives include student exchanges, cultural events, and business development opportunities.
The City of Washougal and Zielonki work together to identify specific areas of collaboration, including cultural, educational, and economic initiatives. Both communities are committed to building a strong, lasting partnership that will benefit residents on both sides of the Atlantic.
About Zielonki, Poland
Zielonki, located in southern Poland near the city of Kraków, is a vibrant city with a rich cultural heritage, including historic architecture, traditional cuisine, and a thriving arts community. This partnership will allow Washougal and Zielonki to share their unique cultures and traditions through educational programs, exchanges, and events.
