[ARCHIVED] SR 14 Access Improvements Construction Updates

This summer and fall, WSDOT will begin work to improve safety and access to and from SR 14 in Washougal by installing two roundabouts on the highway at Washougal River Road/15th Street and 32nd Street.

To keep residents informed and minimize the impact of construction, the city has created this dedicated page for closure and detour updates. The following information will be updated as construction on the SR 14 Access Improvements Project occurs. All dates/times are subject to change.

Updated September 30, 2019

Expect delays on SR 14 near Washougal for roundabout construction, Sept. 30 - Oct. 2

UPDATE: Travelers who use SR 14 near Washougal should plan for nighttime delays, while crews alternate traffic through a single-lane near 32nd Street, nightly, from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. – all work is weather dependent.

WASHOUGAL – Travelers who use State Route 14 near Washougal should plan for delays or use an alternate route while crews continue work to construct roundabouts on the highway.

On Monday, Sept. 30 and Tuesday, Oct. 1, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will reduce all lanes of the highway down to a single lane in both directions of SR 14 at 32nd Street.

Closure details:

Monday, Sept. 30 to the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 1 and Tuesday, Oct. 1 to the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 2: Flaggers will alternate travelers through a single-lane of SR 14, at 32nd Street, nightly, from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m., for final paving work.

  • Travelers should plan to use an alternate route, or expect delays of up to 20 minutes throughout the work zone.
  • Access to all side streets will remain open.
  • All work is weather dependent.

Because construction work is weather dependent, additional single lane closures may be necessary. Roundabout construction is scheduled to continue into October 2019.
